GWORZA ATTACK: BOKO HARAM TAKES BRIGADE COMMANDER HOSTAGE

According to Nigerian Times
The Nigerian Times has been reliably informed that Colonel Ita, the Acting Brigade Commander in Gworza may have been captured and taken hostage by the Boko Haram terror group.
Defence headquarters sources disclosed that after the deadly attack, the distraught commander had personally called the Maiduguri headquarters to report the attack and thereafter had been unreachable fueling fears that he was taken a prisoner by the terrorists.

“The attack itself was a well planned assault on the base.
“The terrorists who poured on the base from the surrounding hills encircled, outnumbered, and eventually out-gunned the soldiers,” an eye witness told The Nigerian Times.
Reports also have it that a Lieutenant Colonel and a number of soldiers were confirmed dead during the attack while another Lt. Colonel Orok, managed to escape with some soldiers and arrived Maimilari Barracks in the night of the attack.
“There was sporadic shooting last night when the returned soldiers were refused entry into the divisional headquarters on the orders of Gen. Ibrahim, the General Officer Commanding. The terrorists thereafter blew the bridge linking Gworza to adjoining towns,” another source revealed.
The terrorists, who came in Hilux vehicles and armoured tanks, had Wednesday morning dislodged the military formation and successfully took control of Gworza town in Borno State after setting houses, shops and government buildings ablaze.
This is not the first time the terrorists had seized a major town from Nigerian troops.
It would be recalled that some weeks ago, it was reported that they massacred many residents of Damboa and dislodged troops stationed to secure the town.
